New music discovery options are everywhere, from the ubiquitious streaming service, social outlets like Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, to blog-friendly media channels like Pitchfork and Stereogum. But if you combine all of the music you discover from these social circles and services it still doesn’t make you an expert. We’re the experts. We’re here to help and guide you. Music discovery in the digital age was suppose to be easy, fun and social, but like most subjects on the internet it’s actually dived us even further. Created by algorithms and statistical data that surfaces music by genres, styles, situations and moods, these recommendations can be confusing. We like our playlists to cross genres, explode in energy and come down in mood, we want to be introduced to something we didn’t think we’d liked That’s important. It’s why Ravelin offers a continous mix of our new music playlist series called Mix Tape Monthly along with a Mixcloud mix. Started in 2005, the Mix Tape Monthly series was an underground music club that sent out compact discs of new music generated by a group of journalists and music heads that remain anonymous. We’ve teamed up with this rogue crew to bring a monthly selection of good music, regardles of age, color or style. Enjoy.
