Torraine Futurum is on the record as not owning casual clothes or flat shoes. The point being — and it’s well taken — none of us are allocated a long enough lifetime to live it in a low gear. This principle seems to apply to every aspect of Futurum’s varied career: as a model, as an artist, and — our focus today — as a performer and musician. Olimpia Dior went to see her performance on Saturday (12/16) and came away with the ultra-glamorous images you would expect. The images speak for themselves but don’t capture the energy or lyrical insights of Futurum’s music. For that, you’ll have to grab the album or catch her live yourself.
The venue for the event comes courtesy of master hotel-whisperer Ian Schrager. Public Hotel fits right into its Chrystie Street location by being a destination for the downtown art scene (as evidenced by the Torraine Futurum performance). The voluptuous red curtains of the Public Arts stage complimented the Torraine Futurum and her accompanists exquisitely.
