The images and video below are the best way we can describe the collective artistic expression created at the Buoy residency. But first a little context about Buoy and what the residency entailed. Bailey Nolan and Viva Soudan invite the performers to Peace Barn, 15 acres of the gorgeously tended landscape on the Connecticut side of the Long Island Sound. Inspired both by nature and each other, the performers created the art pieces we document here.
In a world so completely dominated by instrumentalized spectacle designed for maximum consumability, the site-specific one-time only performance at Buoy is surely a radical act. The residency was as much about communal self-exploration as it was about producing an end product. Olimpia Dior captures the energy of the event in the images below.
