It’s not often a beauty story comes along that does something you’ve never seen before, but Devoy’s “process” approach reveals something new. The fringing hair cuttings that are normally swept up by the apprentice, now take center stage decorating the model. It’s quite an ingenious repurposing.
Here’s how Devoy describes the concept: “I was intrigued to see what Ricardo would come up with cutting a fringe on Alina so I made one for him to cut and photographed his process. The inspiration for this was very spontaneous and organic, which is how I feel the most interesting and unique work comes from, but it did have some reference to Leonor Watling’s fringe in Talk to Her by Pedro Almodovar.”
The next time you have that itch on the back of your neck after a haircut, call these images to mind and take yourself to a more sublime place.
